(PUR) Pop-Up Receptacle Installation Instructions

For Catalog Numbers: PURBTQWC Series

Important: Read all instructions before installing the PUR Series.

Prior to Installation

  1. Contact a local electrical inspector to ensure that this product meets or exceeds all local electrical codes (electrical codes may vary by location).
  2. Ensure there is adequate space for installation (see below: Cut Out and Mounting Steps).
  3. Disconnect and turn off all power sources.

Conditions

  1. For indoor use only.
  2. This product is designed for countertops, desktops, and similar surfaces (this product is not suitable for floor use).
  3. All non-GFI units must be wired to a GFCI circuit breaker if being installed in a kitchen, bathroom, or any other area where there is the potential for water.
  4. Electric cord and plug may not be cut off for hardwiring. Doing so will negate any warranty or return of material.
  5. Only licensed, insured, and bonded electrical contractors should install the PUR series.
  6. These products have no field-serviceable parts. If the product is damaged, it must be returned to the factory. Any attempt to alter this product in any way may cause electrocution.
  7. Lew Electric accepts no responsibility if the above conditions are not followed.

Cutout and Mounting Steps

  1. Select the desired location on the countertop or desktop, ensuring it is at least 10 inches away from the stovetop or any other heating sources.
  2. The chosen location must be at least 20 mm (13/16 inches) away from the edge of the countertop or similar surface.
  3. The mounting surface must be between 9.5 mm (3/8 inches) and 55 mm (2 3/16 inches) thick, and should allow for the following clearances:

A licensed electrician must install a UL-listed electrical outlet box beneath the countertop. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Cut a hole in the countertop, ensuring it is no larger than 4 inches in diameter.
  2. Remove the plastic threaded locking flange from the PUR unit.
  3. Guide the power cord through the hole in the countertop, then insert the PUR unit until the black gasket rests on the countertop.
  4. Thread the power cord through the locking flange and turn the flange counterclockwise to secure it against the back of the countertop.
